Teacher Mini-Grants are designed to give teachers and students extra learning opportunities by providing extra materials or experiences
related to the academic curriculum. Mini Grant criteria require projects to be closely aligned with North Carolina's Standard Course of
Study.
Mini Grants are awarded at the beginning of the school year to teachers who propose innovative and educational projects with realistic
goals, direct benefit to students and a reasonable budget. Projects are funded for 1 year.
Information is sent to the schools in August/September. Applications are located at the bottom of this page and are submitted directly
to the Foundation's post office. A review committee of the Foundation makes all selections. Recipients and non-recipients receive
personal letters by mail informing them of their grant status. Recipients are presented their checks by a member of the selection
committee.
For several years, Mini grants were funded by Lexington Home Brands whose leadership includes education as a large part of their
company's community involvement.
Schools included in the DCEF Mini-Grant project are those in the West, Central, and North Davidson attendance areas.
Teachers in schools in the East, South, and Ledford areas are eligible for similar Mini-Grants sponsored by
Thomasville Furniture Industries.
To date, DCEF has administered 234 projects totaling $68,811.50.
